Neurological Occupational Therapy - Occupational Rehabilitation Services

At Healing Touch Rehab, we are highly trained professionals who work closely with patients to create personalised treatment plans based on their specific needs. We use evidence-based techniques and interventions to address the physical, cognitive, sensory, and emotional challenges associated with neurological conditions, which can have a significant impact on an individual’s daily life, making it difficult for them to perform everyday tasks and engage in activities that are meaningful to them.

Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation

For Occupational Therapists, an occupation isn’t just work, it’s any activity that holds meaning and purpose to an individual . This could be employment, training or leisure activities but it also includes personal care activities and domestic activities. The ability to complete occupations is essential to health and well- being.

Functional rehabilitation is the process of working towards returning to a client’s maximum level of independence in the activities that are meaningful and important to them. With a collaborative assessment , we will identify with the client the areas of functional challenges  and a comprehensive programme is devised to ensure  maximum levels of independence are reached across all areas of day to day life. The process also includes adaptations to home environment, use of a range of equipment , seating and mobility equipment to enable the client achieve their functional goals.

We assess and treat individuals holistically, considering their physical, psychological, social and environmental needs.  We will consider strengths, abilities and health care needs of our clients and find ways to make individual’s life easier and support them to manage daily tasks and activities.

Work is carried out in collaboration with the client; enable a wholistic assessment; problem solve using activity as a therapeutic tool; group work; environmental adaptation and use of suitable equipment.

Following  a comprehensive assessment, the client’s needs are identified and personalised, SMART goals are set.  Occupational focussed rehabilitation is used to support clients  to regain and maintain independence at their work, occupations, school and other areas that are important to them.  The interventions are evaluated and this process of assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation is cyclical and often repeated at various stages of therapy.
